“Mr Gray (J4MB: defence lawyer) said that Sharples “still struggles to accept full responsibility” but has shown “some remorse” and “some insight”.
“In further mitigation, it was highlighted that Sharples had an IQ of 69 and suffered from an emotionally unstable personality disorder.”
I cannot recall a single case of the IQ of a male criminal ever being used in court in mitigation.
