Former police officer Kirstie Coy-Martin, 52, left with phobia of police stations, sues Met for £1m

Our thanks to Graham for this. An outrageous claim for £1m. I expect the Met will pay some still obscene out-of-court settlement to end the matter.

  1. Having had two close friends be Police officers I’m sympathetic to sensitivity to the fact officers deal with all sorts of traumatic and dispiriting stuff. Reading this the MET did indeed respond to her and latterly she had tasks that only occasional visits to stations to pick up or drop off work were required. But as you say no doubt they will settle, not least because they don’t want the negative publicity of appearing to be mean to an “amazing” woman. It is after all rather difficult to be an organisation there to protect the public from all manner of dangers and unpleasantness. Of course the problem with these sorts of cases is that they become a “model” for all sorts of similar claims, undermining the effectiveness of a police force and turning it into a police service that concentrates on trawling social media and CCTV. It is corrosive to morale.

  2. Scientist who wasn’t invited to her work Christmas party loses discrimination claim | News UK | Metro News Thank goodness the Tribunal saw sense. But its an object lesson in female entitlement. Having decided she couldn’t cope with the stress or work, turning up to do her job or attending meetings, yet is miffed when not invited to a Xmas gathering while off work sick! Collecting “diagnoses” like badges, all to be paid for a job she wants to “choose” which bits she wants to do. In what appears a small firm having such a “dud” means others have to work harder and maybe the firm loses out to competitors.
