James L Nuzzo: “United States to Defund UN Women.”

Good news. But the US contributed only 4.8% of the $4.2 billion budget of UN Women over 2011-23. The UK contributed 6.2%, around £150 million, all of it during Conservative administrations.

  1. Good. It is interesting to note to note the other “big” funders. Not many and the usual suspects. Argentina’s President has it right “Argentine President Javier Milei likened the UN to a “multi-tentacled Leviathan” that has morphed into a bureaucratic enforcer of “socialist” agendas. The UN is promoting a “radical feminist agenda” that he said is rooted in Marxist principles.” And many countries are “p—–d off” at the women only aid programmes specifically designed to undermine their traditions. It is indicative that these days we rarely hear of the UN at all, yet in my youth the General Secretary was frequently in the News trying to deal with conflicts all over the world. Partly this was because the UN relied on the heft of the US and the US had some confidence in it and partly because it focussed on its main role reducing conflict. In favour of “special rapporteurs” castigating the UK for “gender pay gaps” or “poverty (as defined in relative terms (not having at least 5 of the essential appliances such as dishwashers or TVs, meaning the UK “poor” are wealthy by most of the world’s standards) The rapporteurs with time to do this because most of the countries of the world won’t even let them visit!

As to the Tories ……. Well I go right back to the Thatcher era when the relevant Minister wrote how his Civil Servants and “Gingerbread” pressure group turned the welfare system into an incentive to mother led single “families”; doing the reverse of his actual stated policy. Nerdy attention to committees, protocols and civil service office politics, “consultations” and procedures ensure that the “left” (steeped in this politics of committees, appearances, drafts, “minutes” from student politics and internal Labour Party factions and arcane processes) are expert at getting what they want while the Minister is entertained by “photo opportunities”, virtue signalling press releases, conferences and the trappings. “Yes Minister” is only a comedy on the surface. In local as much as national Government most politicians are “managed” by their officers. The few that aren’t are the ones who put in the time and effort to get stuck into the detail.

A bunch of inevitably gynocentric Tory men, anxious to be seen as white knights saving damsels…….. a doddle for the feminists to manage. Result? Pretty much little distinction between Governments of left or right. The problem is the left actually want social breakdown to usher in “true” socialism while the “right” well bumble into destroying tradition utterly confused as to how the reverse of what they think they’re doing is what has actually happened.
