” “These are really dated allegations, and it’s very difficult for a person to defend themselves when they’re required to meet allegations that go some 40 years back.”” In a way I tend too agree, some cases in this country, usually involving an accused man have been from 50 years ago. However I have to not that if a judge had said this sort of thing about an accused man there would be calls for apology and resignation. Apart from anything else the boys were all under age at the time so the sexual contact was illegal full stop. I suppose this is a version of the idea that boys are “up for it” and somehow aren’t really victims at at. Yet even when a girl is convinced her abuser loves her and thinks she’s in a loving relationship the man will be assumed to have manipulated her into her abuse. For the reason he’s an adult and she’s a child. It seems no when its the other way round.
Is it any wonder that males grow up thinking they have to “man up” and sort themselves out when in fact, as this case proves, that is the expectation of their society.
