In a report adopted with 310 votes in favour, 222 against and 68 abstentions, the European Parliament calls on the Commission to present an ambitious strategy for gender equality 2026–2030 with concrete legislative and other measures.

More action against violence against women is needed.

With regard to gender-based violence, MEPs are calling on the Commission to submit a proposal to the Council classifying this form of violence as a particularly serious EU crime with a cross-border dimension .
