Our thanks to Steve for this. Can there ever have been anyone in the UK more responsible for misleading the public about domestic abuse? At Shelter, too, her interest was in women – more interested in advocating for women with a roof over their heads than men with none. And of course over 90% of the street homeless are men.

I think it was Sandra Horley of Refuge (who had to stand down recently due to accusations of bullying at Refuge) Who let slip in an interview nearly 30 years ago that they (Refuge and Womensaid) had to conceal male victimisation to keep up the donations to their organisations. A contemporary of Polly Neate they both ensured that that “narrative” has been maintained to this day. With the small charities set up to support men still excluded from the £350millions a year “ring fenced” Gov. funding. This of course doesn’t include the hundreds of millions given by local authorities.
