Jailed charity founder Claire Tempest, 39, abandons sentence appeal

“The founder of a Bradford-based charitable group has abandoned her appeal against an eight-month jail sentence for fraud.

Claire Tempest, 39, was jailed on 4 August after she took almost £3,000 from her Helping Hands organisation…

Ms Ahmed [J4MB: Tempest’s barrister.] confirmed that Tempest was due to be released from prison in 17 days.” [J4MB: Sentenced on 4 August to an eight-month jail sentence, due to be released on 23 September.]

  1. There was a charity near me a few years back, where something similar happened. A woman had become the CEO of a small local charity. She helped herself to the funds they had raised, and scarpered. They caught up with her, but the charity had to close.
