‘Unfairly sacked’ police officer Lorne Castle to fight dismissal

Another ridiculous dismissal of a white policeman (Telegraph, £). An extract:

Body camera footage of the arrest of the knifeman shows Mr Castle restraining the teenager. A double-edged, eight-inch knife was found in the teenager’s possession, and can be seen falling out of his pocket.

The suspect was not injured during the arrest and was later detained for assault, receiving an out-of-court disposal for possession of the weapon.”

The BBC piece on the matter – with no photograph of the policeman – makes no mention that the knife was double-edged and eight inches long, stating this:

“Dorset Police said a knife was found on the boy afterwards, but beforehand there had been no suggestion he was armed or that a knife had been used.”

  1. I note that in the video there is apparently a female officer speaking. Clearly not providing “back up”. Also the young man refers to “i have the right” suggesting this wasn’t the first time he’s been in trouble with the police. Having just commented with a link to an article about the experiences of “trans men” (women who have been hormonally and surgically altered) which notes the massive difference in energy and strength that comes with the hormone treatment one can see how scary any encounter with a young male fighting back is not going to be “pretty”.

    • Thanks Nigel. Female police officers and prison officers always wait for their male colleagues to sort out violent offenders then get stuck in. Same money for less risk, same old, same old. Privilege, not equality.
