If you become a member of Paul Elam’s XY Crew, you’ll be able to attend a shedload of Zoom meetings with others interested in the things MRAs are interested in, the schedule here. One is held on Wednesday evenings (19:30 BST) and is hosted by Tom Caulfield, an expert photographer, videomaker and drone pilot. I try to never miss these 90-minute meetings, they’re a hoot.

Many MRAs are keen anglers or drone pilots, and I’ve just been made aware of a YouTube channel, Darcizzle Offshore, which has 453,000+ subscribers. I’ve just subscribed. Darcizzle’s website is here. The particular video I was sent a link to is titled This Fishing Drone Just Changed Beach Fishing FOREVER! (Caught so many fish!) (21:43). Enjoy!

The main fish being caught in the video is the pompano. Darcizzle fillets the fish before cooking it (from 16:00), what a woman! During my many years of freshwater angling in the UK I doubt I saw more than three female anglers. None of them looked like Darcizzle.

Many years ago the BBC broadcast a TV series purporting to answer the question of whether men or women were the better anglers. Predictably, they chose the most appalling male anglers and the best female anglers they could find (who weren’t good, compared with most male anglers).
