Good news. Needless to say, The Guardian refers to all of the leaders as “far right”. An extract:
“While the presidential role is largely ceremonial, it has some influence over foreign and defence policy, as well as the critical power to veto new laws. This can only be overturned with a 60% majority in parliament, which Tusk’s coalition does not have.
Nawrocki’s veto means it will be hard for the prime minister to pass big changes before the next elections in 2027.”

Watched a documentary programme on the rise of “populists” and “far right” in Europe. They are contrasted with the “democratic” parties. The latter just meaning the parties who have usually been popular. There was a lot of huffing and puffing about the 1930s yet of course the very big difference is that unlike in that era the real “far right” of the era was never very popular achieving power through various forms of “coups” . Whereas the current supposed “far right” are in fact popular often the largest Party in their country. To cap it all the two leaders who are taking on the ECHR are the “far right” Meloni in Italy and the feminist socialist Danish PM! Both “far right” ?!?
Meanwhile the supposed “democratic” parties have used “lawfare”, Byzantine procedural tricks, blocking “coalitions” of usually implacable rivals and smear campaigns to block the most popular parties or candidates from enacting their democratically mandated governance and policies! France, Romania, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Hungary to name just the largest “democracies” where the EU and/or national establishments have interfeared to either prevent the most popular parties/ candidates taking office or punishing the country if they don’t.
No wonder electorates across Europe keep coming back and voting for the “wrong” people.
