Tony Blair at war with Ed Miliband over net zero

Interesting. The day is surely coming when Labour will have to face reality about the utter pointlessness of its net zero initiative, and the harm it’s causing energy bill payers and manufacturing companies.

  1. To two decimal places, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is 0.04%. The same as it was a hundred years ago.

CO2 is essential for photosynthesis to take place efficiently. If the concentration falls below 0.018%, photosynthesis struggles, plant life begins to die.

We are a carbon-based organism. Every carbon atom of our bodies originated from CO2, gleaned from the atmosphere by photosynthesis. We then ate the plants, or other animals which ate the plants.

Expending precious energy to ‘lock up’ CO2 before it can be used for photosynthesis seems like madness.

Having energy policies which penalise our domestic industries (and consumers), while we happily import ‘green’ goods from halfway around the world, goods which are cheap because they’ve been manufactured using coal, and other fossil fuels… that seems beyond madness.

    Don’t worry – be happy.

If it’s really necessary to worry about anything, there are 1,000,001 issues requiring attention before Net Zero would make top of the list.
