Hopefully the rift can be mended, but either way, Farage isn’t about to quit as party leader. He’s achieved too much over too long to even consider it. He was first elected an MEP in 1999, at the age of 35. Reform UK continues to gain thousands of new members with each passing day. The membership counter has just passed the 175,000 mark.

Nigel on good form at the conference yesterday, livestreamed on YouTube and elsewhere. He starts talking at 35:20 but I recommend watching from 31:50, to catch some high-quality promotional video footage. At 43:04 there’s a nice moment when an audience member hands Nigel his smartphone, showing the famous party membership ticker had just passed 170,000. The Tories claim to have 131,680 members, but the true number is widely believed to be lower.
