Despite anti-male rules, Jaeden Izik-Dzurko, RCM Alumnus, Wins the 2024 Leeds Piano Competition

We recently posted a piece, Leeds International Piano Competition: Female pianists favoured over men under major competition’s rules. Very few women have ever won the competition. We’re pleased to report that despite anti-male bias now enshrined in the competition’s rules, a man won again this year. Congratulations to Jaeden Izik-Dzurko.

  1. oh dear! I expect the judges will be changed for next year, clearly they didn’t fully understand their instructions to mark up one of the “amazing” women the rules had ensured were the majority of the finalists. I’ll put money on them getting the “right” result next year.

  2. Indeed, perhaps they’ll do like the RAF after such just about legal fixing didn’t prevent too many white men scoring highly in recruitment tests they simply ignored the scores, carrying them into illegality. More honest would be to do as is done in sports, even chess, snooker etc., and reserve a special all-women piano competion. That is after all what the feminists often demand to ensure “amazing” women get prizes.

  3. Thrilled to hear this!! And it is no surprise!! I hope this sexist, bigoted event is boycotted!! I know that I would NEVER attend! I would tell this horrible, sexist, bigoted shrew that runs this event to her face what a horrible misandrist bitch she is and that as many temper tantrums as you throw you can’t change biology!!!
