The Last Dinner Party: Venue apologises to lone-male gig-goers over ‘strange’ and ‘condescending’ treatment

Our thanks to Peter for this. The Last Dinner Party is an indie rock band. You may note in the photographs in the Sky article that no men are shown as band members, and the photograph from a live performance has the drummer obscured. Their Wiki page has no men in the image either, but it includes this:

“They have no permanent drummer, and are currently joined during live performances by Casper Miles.”

Ah yes, Casper the Ghost. What are we to conclude? Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves – except when they need a drummer, apparently.

Labour to end BBC licence fee prosecutions because most of the prosecuted are women

Ridiculous (Times, £). Lisa Nandy (Culture Secretary) and Shabana Mahmood (Justice Secretary) are understood to agree that failure to pay the licence should no longer be a criminal offence. They are concerned that women are being “disproportionately” targeted.

CLARA GASPAR: Why like so many young women today I’d rather find myself alone in a forest with a grizzly bear than a MAN

Our thanks to Jeff for this (Mail, £). I posted a comment saying that at least Clara Gaspar and I can agree on one thing, despite her hysterical and nonsensical article. I, too, would rather she found herself alone in a forest with a grizzly bear than a man. Doubtless she’d scream in the hope of a man coming to rescue her. Ah, the irony…

How the number of women being arrested is surging faster than men – because of violence and sex crimes

Our thanks to Jeff for this (Mail, £). I’m surprised the police bother arresting women given how few are later prosecuted and punished.
