Tracy Ashbridge, 44, ‘greedy’ HMRC worker who pocketed over £300k in child benefit, only has to pay back £1

Appalling. The woman was paid £11,000 as an employee of the HMRC. She stole £305,952, equivalent to about £131,000 p.a. during the course of her 28 months sentence, almost 12x what she earned as an employee. Nice ‘work’ if you can get it. This isn’t punishment, this is a very generous reward for crime, and plenty of women will surely be incentivised by this and other similar cases of obscene leniency being shown to female criminals. In addition, there’s the cost to the taxpayer – mainly men – of her imprisonment.

In a sane worls, the woman would be given the options of:

(a) working in a f/t job and 100% of her earnings given to repaying HMRC until she’d repaid double the sum she stole, or

(b) remain in prison indefinitely.

From the article:

“Mr Lane [J4MB: her husband’s lawyer] added that references for his client included one from a reverend, who he said spoke of him as “a trustworthy member of the congregation” at his local church and was trusted to run the parish’s administration.”

You couldn’t make this s*** up…
