  1. “Liberal Democrat MP and former police officer Wendy Chamberlain said: ‘It is clear that the National Police Chiefs Council needs to move forward with its review of fitness standard tests so the public can be confident that officers are working to the same standard across the country.'” Code for getting all Police forces to further drop their remaining standards.

    Now I can see that office based jobs may have opportunities for some special treatment but actually this piece seems to itemise a whole series of reasons for not employing women in jobs where their is little opportunity for others to take over when they can’t perform. Having always worked in female dominated sectors I can observe that generally women are far more skeptical about all these lists of reasons for time off, time out and getting others to cover. Because of course in those sectors its other women who have to cover the work left undone! Unfortunately for the Transport Police men, its they who’ll have to cover.
