An urgent message to unmarried men in intimate relationships with women

Every four years there comes a day that should strike terror in the heart of any unmarried man in an intimate relationship with a woman. That day is Bachelor’s Day, and occurs on 29 February, every four years. In 23 days’ time this diabolical day will come around again. Based on a deeply regrettable Irish tradition, it’s the day women are permitted to propose to men. The rest of this post is addressed directly to the men at risk of cheerily saying “I do!” before starting their slow descents into the deepest pits of hell. If you’re a regular reader of men’s rights materials, you should hardly need reminding why men shouldn’t marry. Paul Elam will be giving a talk on the subject at the Budapest conference in August. Your only option is to be uncontactable between midnight on the 28th August and midnight on 29th August. We recommend the following:
  • Book a hotel for the nights of 28th and 29th August.
  • After texting your woman on 28th August to say you won’t be contactable the next day, pass your phone to a sympathetic friend or work colleague, and arrange to collect it on the 30th. Don’t tell the person where you’ll be in the intervening period.
  • Buy a copy of Mike Buchanan’s The Fraud of the Rings as a present for your woman’s next birthday.
That should do it for another four years.
