Did “DEI” Cause The Flight 1282 Mid Flight Door Blowout?

Our thanks to Gerry for this (video, 23:52). He writes:
Watch the vixeo from 15:12 for the promotional video for the engineering company that built the plug door for Boeing. Proud of their DEI credentials, not bothered that much about engineering quality.

USA: Ronnie Long, North Carolina man who spent 44 years in prison after wrongful conviction, awarded $25M settlement

Another scandalous case. An extract:
Long, who is Black, was convicted by an all-white jury in 1976 for the rape of a “prominent white woman” in Concord, according to the Wrongful Convictions Clinic. The jury had been selected by local law enforcement leaders, who removed potential Black jurors from the jury pool, the clinic said. Despite no physical evidence connecting Long to the rape and burglary, he was accused of, his attorneys said the prosecution used the victim’s identification of Long as their main piece of evidence. But the prosecution’s evidence “was the product of a suggestive identification procedure arranged by the police to target Long, who did not match her original description of the assailant as a ‘yellow or really light-skinned Black male,'” the clinic said. Evidence collected from the crime scene and a local hospital, including more than 40 fingerprints that did not match Long’s and a rape kit, were not shared with the defense, according to the clinic. At the time of trial, Concord Police Department officers gave false testimony about the evidence. Long, 21 at the time, received two life sentences. After serving 44 years, 3 months and 17 days in prison, he was released in 2020.

USA: Louis Wright wrongfully convicted of sexual assault gets $1.75 million after 35 years in prison

An appalling miscarriage of justice, which are far more common than people might fondly believe. A DNA test carried out after 35 years in prison?!!! How many innocent men have died in prison for the lack of a cheap DNA test being carried out? An extract from the piece in USA Today:
Wright maintained his innocence since being accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl in Albion, a town in southwestern Michigan. The Cooley Law School Innocence Project said on its website Albion police named Wright as a suspect after an off-duty officer said Wright was seen in the neighborhood before the assault happened. Police claimed Wright confessed, but the interview wasn’t recorded and Wright did not sign a confession. The victim wasn’t asked to identify anyone nor did police conduct identification procedures, the Innocent Project said.

Tanya Lord, 41, lesbian rapist of a man in Northern Ireland (cont’d)

Earlier today we posted a link to a piece on the conviction of a lesbian woman for raping a man in Northern Ireland, although the law in the UK defines rape as requiring penile penetration, i.e. only men can rape. The piece was originally published in March, it was covered at the time by the Mail here and the BBC here.

BBC: “Diversity, equity and inclusion policies have become the norm at many companies. As some notable corporate leaders reject the approach, is a DEI backlash brewing?”

Our thanks to Jeff for this. An interesting article despite the inclusion of BS such as this:
Sankalp Chaturvedi, professor of organisational behaviour and leadership, and associate dean of equity, diversity and inclusion at London’s Imperial College Business School, says extensive research has shown “when gender, ethnicity or any form of the diversity are on the table, quality of discussions and decision-making is better, creativity is improved and the performance of the organisation and its culture is stronger”.

No distinction between male and female rape says Northern Ireland judge as lesbian Tanya Lord (41) is jailed for raping a man

Our thanks to Rick for this.  It’s a mystifying case because the feminist-drafted Sexual Offences Act 2003 defined rape as requiring penile penetration. The Sexual Offences (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 confirms this is also the case for Northern Ireland.
