The Cheltenham Group

I’ve just posted a link to the website of The Cheltenham Group.  Barry Worrall, a key member of the group, posted this comment on a recent piece:
You may like to add “The Cheltenham Group” www.c-g.org.uk to your list of recommended websites. While it has not been recently updated, it has important info on the treatment of men, notably the late 1990’s report The Emperor’s New Clothes, after a survey by the group Families Need Fathers, the only comprehensive survey of men’s treatment in UK family law. This report has never been referred to by UK media.
Barry kindly submitted a piece (video, 39:10) for the (online) ICMI20. William Collins, the intellectual giant behind The Illustatrated Empathy Gap – to my mind (and to the minds of many other MRAs) it’s the most important / informative website in the world on men’s issues, feminism etc. – responded to the video at the time with this:
This is an extremely welcome talk as it places on record the activities of the Cheltenham Group and their ground-breaking 1996 report. I have a copy of the Cheltenham Group report, but I expect that puts me among a mere handful of viewers of these ICMI videos. Yet it is a document of major historical significance, as a future generation will discover. When it was produced (I stress I was not involved) I suspect the authors imagined that it would cause a sensation and precipitate immediate reform. We know better now. Since 1996 the situation has got worse, not better, and the DA Bill currently going through the House of Lords, and the outfall from this year’s Family Justice Review, will make it worse still. I fully agree with Barry that young men must be better informed about what marriage entails – because, as a contract, it is so preposterously one-sided that very few men would ever get married if the legal implications were made clear from the start. The only way reform will happen is if marriage becomes so unpopular, that so very few men are willing to put their head in the noose prepared for them, that it eventually spurs young women into action to press for reform. Despite the feminists’ incessant blather about male power, the reality is very clear: society will tolerate any level of discrimination against men, however many die or are driven to despair. It is only women’s discontent that society will ever react to.
William’s comments attracted this reply from @talosgb8037:
Society will tolerate it because most men will put up with it. Most men will bury their heads in the sports pages and “man up!” If they want to stop being kicked around like pieces of dried dogshit, they need to vote accordingly – in most cases, that means not at all.
