Yes I do think this is a real issue. And I think it’s quite deep in psychology. In a way it’s made explicit in the feminist narrative that women are more “team” oriented and “collective” responsibility. Now of course they accuse men of being more individually assertive and claiming individual credit. But of course the other way of looking at this is that men make decisions, own them and get the plaudits when it works and the backlash when it doesn’t, Whereas “collective responsiblity” is another way of saying no one is responsible. As you say any way one looks at this Alison Rose is right at the centre of this, yet she seems to get away with referring to a committees actions. This revelation makes clear her responsibility for bringing the Bank into disrepute. But I’m sure she’ll hang on.
