So “the patriarchy” enforced a lifetime of responsibility on men for a spouse, even when that spouse ditched him. And at long last some semblance of “equality” is made law. As far as I can see men have nothing to fear from equal treatment with women. For yet again we see the supposed “patriarchy” of the past being generous to women and placing burdens on men. Good for De Santis. One of the great weaknesses in this country (and why we are the place of choice for rich women to divorce their very rich husbands) is the “ancillary relief” system that leaves financial settlements to the judiciary, which still seems very old fashioned in assuming women shouldn’t have to make their own livings and earn their own luxuries. These days face a perfect storm of outdated chivalrous attitudes from the judiciary and man hating injustice from the feminists. The results combine to enrich and privilege women.
