Followers of this site will recall Helena Morrissey’s recent attacks on the CBI following its shameful firing of Tony Danker, its director general. Her calls included encouraging companies to cancel their CBI memberships and join the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), a ridiculous call. A piece in yesterday’s Guardian on the BCC is here. Almost seven months have elapsed since our allied organisation Campaign for Merit in Business publicly challenged four leading proponents of ‘more women on boards’, including Helena Morrissey – here. Predictably, we’ve had responses from none of them. The initiative to increase gender diversity on boards was a scam from the outset, and the CBI was among the keenest proponents, to their eternal shame. They are now reaping what they sowed.
