The England v Ireland rugby match kicks off in Dublin at 5pm today. Yesterday my good Irish friend Gerry received the following text from a young Irishman of his acquaintance:
A friend, Conor, has two tickets in a corporate box for tomorrow’s game in Dublin. He paid 600 Euros for each, but he didn’t realise when he bought them that it was going to be the same day as his wedding. He’s looking for someone to take his place.
It’s at the registry office, Great Canal Street, at 4:30pm. The bride’s name is Siobhan. She’s 5’4”, about 8 stone, quite pretty, has her own income and is a really good cook.
