The fanatical foot soldiers of feminism

An excellent piece by Declan Mansfield for the Australian edition of The Spectator. The UK edition wouldn’t publish such an article in a month of Sundays.

  1. Mary Harrington is the latest analyst to point out the the form of feminism that dominates is that of a particular social class of women, and men. I cannot help but think that the more “robust” debates in Australia, parts of the USA and some of Canada reflects their greater democracy. In the UK it is quite evident that the “Westminster Village” reflects a close knit social grouping present in politics, media even business from the same schools, universities and professions. The result is the UK seemingly stifles all serious debate on this (and other) issue. Yet constantly (as last week in the IPSOS research for the UN Women’s group) we learn that the majority don’t share the same view at all and the reverse of the current orthodoxy is how people think! The Spectator in the UK is no doubt part of this small slice of our society that seem uniform in their views and very adept at “no platforming” any dissenting, voices, opposing ideas or even plain facts.
