    Reading the report I saw in the DM, the Police Superintendent and CPS Prosecutor were at pains to encourage reporting, as usual. No wonder there is a “high bar”. In this case this means that from 2017 and her first false accusation this woman was able to up the ante by accusing individual young men before finally escalating to a whole group. The “bar” is set at multiple accusations the last set of which caused small riots in this Cumbrian town. Victims driven mad, suicidal, death threats, arson businesses ruined and exile. With such devastation clearly the “bar” is way above simple justice or even the damage to one victim. The other way to look at it is how low the bar is set for the just treatment of men.

  2. I don’t suppose anyone will look at the conduct of the police as they fed this escalating series of false accusations by treating the often fanciful tales seriously. The men simply “collateral damage” in an atmosphere of treating every accusation seriously when early on a pattern had emerged.     There is also a political element as a local councillor, Labour is implicated. All in all this DM report and its informative panels reveals some of the murky corners of what went on.
