We can reliably assume that the woman has failed tests which (as in the UK, as we reported many years ago) were already made much less demanding in order for everyone to pretend that more than a tiny proportion of women (if any) have the physical abilities to be a competent firefighter.

Fire engines have been modified at enormous cost to accommodate women (likewise nuclear submarines and much else). Has anyone else been struck by the fact that firefighters who die in blazes these days are invariably men? This surely is evidence of women’s risk-aversion. As in other areas requiring physical strength and courage, women are a liability to themselves and others, including people at risk of dying in fires. The original physical tests should be restored and if no women are capable of meeting them, then there should be no female firefighters. Simples.
