Dr Hakim is best-known in our circles as the creator of Preference Theory, her research discovered that while four in seven men are work-centred, just one in seven women is. This is the prime reason men markedly outnumber women at the top of organizations, all else being equal – but, of course, feminist initiatives such as ‘more women on boards’ ensure that all else is NOT equal, regardless of the negative consequences.

Appalling. An extract:

The latest policy applies to interview shortlists that involve both white and non-white applicants, according to documents seen by this newspaper.

It has been in place at Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust since July 2018 for staff in senior positions, but was expanded in recent months to any role within the trust. If a white candidate is chosen, the panel chairman must write a report explaining why they were ‘more suitable’ for the role. It does not apply the other way around.

Anybody using the NHS over recent decades cannot fail to have observed that two groups of people are under-represented as staff, compared with their numbers in the wider population – men, and white people. White doctors are particularly uncommon, needless to say. In my local GP surgery, only one of the 11 GPs is a white man. Yet initiatives designed and implemented by an army of otherwise unemployable EDI managers continue to reduce the number of men and white people yet further. The initiatives are sexist and racist in the extreme.

Giving oral evidence to the committee along with myself were:

• Steve Moxon, author of The Woman Racket (2018)
• Dr Catherine Hakim, creator of Preference Theory, which outlined how four times more men than women are work-centred
• Heather MacGregor, owner of an executive recruitment company in London, Taylor Bennett. At the time, 20 of its 22 staff and directors were female. Gender equality in the workplace is a fine thing.

On behalf of our allied Campaign for Merit in Business I presented to the inquiry evidence of the causal link between increasing the proportion of women on boards, and financial decline. The myth that there’s a ‘business case’ for it, that it leads to financial improvement – invariably presenting correlation as causation – persists to this day, unchallenged in the mainstream media.

Two weeks ago I publicly challenged four leading proponents to present evidence of a causal link with financial improvement, and of course I’ve heard nothing back from any of them. Details of the challenge are here. The proportion of women on FTSE100 company boards has increased from 5% to 42% between 2000 and today, yet there’s no evidence of financial performance improvement resulting. It’s a mystery, all right…
