Health chiefs scrap controversial plan which would have seen a SINGLE glass of wine in pregnancy noted on a baby’s medical file – as charity says it’s ‘absolutely staggering’ move was ever considered

Our thanks to Steve for this. The reference to BPAS as a “pregnancy charity” is obscene. It is, I understand, the leading killer of unborn children in this country. A few extracts from the piece:

Around four in 10 women drink during pregnancy, according to data from the Office for National Statistics. And four per cent of children are thought to be affected by FASD.

Ms Murphy, from the British Pregnancy Advisory Service, said the ‘vast majority of women’ don’t drink alcohol once pregnancy is confirmed… [J4MB – is 60 per cent a “vast majority”?]

The number of children “thought to be affected” by FASD is much higher than the 4 per cent reported here. It could be as high as 17 per cent, as we reported here. Needless to say the issue of FASD was in the J4MB manifesto in 2015 and will be in the forthcoming manifesto of the Children & Family Party.
