The example given is a woman who in her own words:

“I couldn’t retain anything,” she says. “I had no memory. I couldn’t see or think clearly enough to do my work. I had no confidence at all. I thought I was useless.” (my emphasis)

Despite this she wasn’t sacked she was put on performance monitoring but somehow the company ‘bosses’ are blamed.

From the article:

In July, the House of Commons women and equalities committee launched an inquiry into menopause and the workplace. “These are women in the prime of their lives,” says the committee’s chair, Caroline Nokes MP, “in their late 40s and 50s, who should be in senior positions … These are the people who should be the trailblazers and role models for younger people in the workplace.”

I am lost for words people who in their own words cannot think clearly enough to do their work should, according to Caroline Noakes be in senior positions, trail blazers and role models.

Its not that I don’t have sympathy with people who suffer from conditions that impair them mentally. They should be helped and its part of why we have the welfare system and the NHS but businesses cannot employee people who can’t do their jobs and it would be quite literally dangerous if they did. We  shouldn’t raise incompetence to something to be aspired to in role models. It’s a strange world when it isn’t recognised that ability to perform a job adequately is a prerequisite to be employed.

In the UK, fathers often face great difficulties maintaining a meaningful involvement in their children’s lives after parental separation. Men who are victims of partner abuse face almost universal disbelief and a dearth of provision to help them. The reality of male victims of partner abuse is kept submerged, whilst that of female victims is sometimes amplified in order to undermine fathers’ attempts to obtain court orders for child contact. Feminists dominate the academic research in these areas and hence control the narrative which shapes Governmental and judicial policy, and this maintains the status quo. By concentrating upon the recent works of one individual as an exemplar, [J4MB: Dr Adrienne Barnett, Senior Lecturer in Law at Brunel University London] and by deconstructing the language used and its poststructural trappings, the mechanisms which continue to propagate this institutionalised deceit are exposed.

I am pleased to announce we shall be campaigning on the issue of inter-personal violence, IPV – mainly – outside the Conservative party conference on Sunday 3 October and Monday 4 October. The event is again being held at the Manchester Central Conference Complex. Please contact me (mike@j4mb.org.uk) if you’d like to join me in handing out leaflets etc. It’s always rewarding to be campaigning outside these events. I’ve booked my own hotel room not far from the venue for the nights of 2 and 3 October, leaving late afternoon or the evening on the Monday.
