Though not a surprise, it is perhaps a sign of the times that Turkey has turned its back on the notorious Istanbul convention. Possibly they’ve actually read it and like countries such as Poland and Hungary they’ve noticed that under the laudable title of protecting women and children it is a feminist charter to undermine the traditional family and make criticism of feminism illegal. As Covid weakens many western economies, Western feminists may have less less power to make developing nations tow the line through “aid”.
