If everyone who read this gave us £5.00 – or even better, £5.00 or more, monthly – we could change the world. £5.00 monthly would entitle you to Bronze party membership, details here. Benefits include a dedicated and signed book by Mike Buchanan. Click below to make a difference. Thanks.

Regular followers of this website are aware that neither Elizabeth Hobson, party leader, nor Mike Buchanan, party chairman, draw any income from the party’s income streams. They both work very long hours on behalf of men and boys (and the women who love them) so they’re unable to engage in paid employment.

Three more presentation videos from ICMI19, Chicago

Alison Tieman has just published three more videos from ICMI19, and I’ve added them to our conference playlist (28 videos so far, more to come, including Sargon of Akkad). The presentations are:

Mark B Rosenthal – How to be an Agent of Change (40:40) – be sure to catch at least the section from 33:54 onwards. Surely the first example of a cappella singing by a presenter in the history of ICMIs?

Shawn Smith – How Average Joe Will Save the World (45:48)

Desi Rae Campbell – Double Standards and the Lens of Identity (41:00)

Leaders Update

It’s now 96 hours since I took up my position as the leader of J4MB and it’s been a wonderful adventure so far! I haven’t been blogging much and wanted to let readers know what I’m busy with: I’m currently working on my NCMI speech (‘The links between Domestic Abuse and other men’s issues’), all videos will be published to our YouTube channel on the 7th June. I’m also working on a new manifesto, in light of my decision to stand for election to The London Assembly.

I’d like to thank everyone for their messages of support, and I’d like to thank all members of the J4MB team who are all busy working on all kinds of exciting projects which will come to fruition soon!

Is Rachel Johnson solipsistic?

I like LBC.  LBC is a long-running talk radio station with a politically diverse set of presenters, engaging in lively debate with a healthy level of audience participation.

But, for some reason, yesterday at 6pm they decided to let Rachel Johnson on for an hour of cringe to pose the question as to whether the coronavirus pandemic has hit women more?

Now, there is an element of truth in this.  If you believe that men and women have differences, then that means that men and women will also sometimes have different challenges to deal with in life.  A recent article claims that female academics are not submitting papers at the rate they were because of childcare responsibilities.

But then, the well has to be poisoned when someone like Rachel Johnson writes an ill-received article in the Daily Mail a few days ago, accusing men of “milking” the lockdown.  Because, you see, during this crisis, women are only to be empathised with, and men are only to be criticised.

Now, Rachel is the sister of our Prime Minister Boris.  And I do like Boris.  But, as many people may know, unlike her star studded brother, Rachel is not a Conservative.  She’s a Liberal Democrat and Remainer.  So, unfortunately, she doesn’t entirely get a pass.

I was so tempted to phone in yesterday to speak my mind.  But, I thought I would do it here instead.  Had I phoned in though, here’s the question I would have posed:

Hi Rachel, it’s nice to speak to you.  Here’s my question for you.  As a woman, would you rather be affected by a short term amount of economic inconvenience, and not getting the housework done as you would like?  Or would you rather be in hospital on a ventilator with a greater likelihood of actually of dying from the virus?  Because, as we know, over 70% of critical care patients with coronavirus are male and males are more likely to die across the entire age spectrum?

Being male of course is not the only co-morbidity of COVID-19 – being elderly greatly affects your chances of dying, as well as being overweight, having diabetes and being BAME.

But the thing that really bothers me about the framing of this kind of debate, is that what I think men are hearing when such a debate is had, is that it really doesn’t matter what catastrophe has befallen the human race, there’s always going to be a healthy queue of white and middle class comfortably off wine-swilling feminists who think that only one half of the human race is affected.

Someone in the comments on the Daily Mail article accused Johnson of being solipsistic.  Is she?  You decide.

BBC write another biased article about Domestic Abuse

In this article posted by the BBC, it is reported that calls to the Domestic Violence charity Refuge has risen ten-fold in the past few weeks.  However, of course the BBC does not tell you the whole story.

In this submission to the BMJ written by a concerned medical professional, it states that calls to the ManKind Initiative, the domestic violence charity catering to male victims, have also increased 35% and the number of visits to their website have tripled during the lockdown.  This information is not included in the BBC article, not even in passing, neither is there any mention of male victims despite the fact that men make up a significant percentage of these victims.

However, that’s not the only problem.  If you read the article carefully it actually admits that the actual picture of DV is more complicated whereby some police forces have recorded more calls, and others less.  For example, the article says:

Data from 41 UK police forces, released to the BBC under freedom of information laws, shows 19 recorded more calls about domestic abuse in March 2020 compared with the same month last year, while 22 recorded a fall.

The figure only includes the first full week of the lockdown, announced on 23 March.

And…

Nottinghamshire Police saw the largest proportional year-on-year drop of with 1,824 calls in March 2019 and 1,161 in the corresponding month in 2020, a fall of 36%.

So, doesn’t this article do its audience a disservice?  If the BBC cared about balance, it would have included the statistics about male victims too, and would have used a headline that was more in keeping with the actual content of the article.

But, of course, it didn’t.

Glass Blind Spot: A Simple Question for the Prime Minister

Excellent (video, 2:07). Boris Johnson’s absurd commentary from 1:03:

But I want everyone to be in no doubt, I want every victim of domestic abuse, domestic violence, domestic abuse of every kind… as I say, they are overwhelmingly but not exclusively female. I want every woman to know, every female person in this country to know, she is not alone. She is not alone. And I also want every perpetrator of domestic abuse and violence – they are overwhelmingly male – I want them to know that they won’t get away with it, and we as a society are determined to come down on them like a ton of bricks.

The left-wing bias of Wikipedia, and its pro-feminist bias in particular, are outrageous. A tip of the hat to Breitbart for this.
