Speakers’ Corner, London – where Men’s Rights Activists (MRAs) and other anti-feminists meet. Join us there next Sunday, 15 March.

We had a great time at Speakers’ Corner yesterday, despite the sometimes inclement weather, plenty of engagement with passers-by, mostly British people, unusually. Natty and Richard performed an excellent double act, Rod was on good form as always. After breaking up for lunch, and on our way to our customary watering hole, we passed some protesting feminists (International Womxn’s Day yesterday) at a gathering organized by Posie Parker, we’ll be posting some video footage of that in due course, as will Ewan Jones. They were, of course, delighted to see us, along with our placards about fathers’ rights, male victims of domestic violence, circumcision, abortion, feminism….

We’ve recently been adopting a new approach on our anti-MGM campaigning, seeking to persuade parents not to circumcise their sons. One of the new placard designs is here.

I urge you to join us at Speakers’ Corner, and support the MRAs and other anti-feminists who campaign there, speak publicly etc. We always have a great time, spreading the word on men’s issues, feminism, Male Genital Mutilation (MGM)…

We campaign for men and women to have equal rights, because women and girls have rights denied to men and boys in many areas. 20 such areas were explored in  our 2015 general election manifesto. One of our “equal rights” placard designs is here.

We campaign against MGM, a crime under the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861, being at least ABH, and almost certainly GBH. The party’s playlist of 100+ video and audio pieces relating to MGM is here. It includes footage taken at Speakers’ Corner.

If you’d like to know if we’re planning to attend Speakers’ Corner on a particular Sunday, please contact us (info@j4mb.org.uk).

Members of The London Group are invariably present at Speakers’ Corner on the same days, some of them speaking on stepladders about men’s issues, feminism etc.

National Conference on Men’s Issues, Manchester, 17 May: “Domestic abuse is a men’s issue, too”

[Note added 11.3.20: We regret that this event has been cancelled due to concerns about the Covid-19 virus.]

We asked people interested in attending the first National Conference on Men’s Issues to be held in the UK, at a premier venue in Manchester on Sunday, May 17, to order tickets by the end of today, so we could be confident the event would be financially viable. The response to that request has been very positive, so I’m pleased to report that the event – Domestic abuse is a men’s issue, too – will go ahead.

It promises to be a memorable conference, details here. We’re delighted at the range of speakers. The keynote speaker will be Professor Nicola Graham-Kevan, whose work is well known to many J4MB supporters. William Collins will also be speaking, along with other speakers who are well-known or not so well-known to J4MB supporters.

I look forward to seeing many of our supporters at the event. On the preceding evening, Saturday, 16 May, I’ll be in the venue’s bar along with William Collins, Elizabeth Hobson, Natty Raymond, Belinda Brown, Ewan Jones and Tom Caulfield (our Technical Director, who’ll be filming and editing the presentations). With the exceptions of William, Belinda and Ewan, we’ll also be in the bar on the evening of the event.

There are only 10 weeks between now and the event, so we strongly recommend you order your ticket(s) soon, to avoid disappointment (in the event they sell out). Ordering tickets will be taken as confirming your acceptance of the Booking Terms in the document about the event. Please order your ticket(s) through this link, our customary donation button, we’ll know from the sum that you want one or more tickets:

William Collins’s book “The Empathy Gap” reduced from £25.00 to £19.55 on Amazon

Last summer William Collins’s book The Empathy Gap: Male Disadvantages and the Mechanisms of Their Neglect was published by my modest commercial venture, LPS publishing. The book is a tour de force and almost 700 pages long. Barely a day goes by in which I don’t dip into it for some information. The description on Amazon:

The Empathy Gap proposes the thesis that men and boys are extensively disadvantaged across many areas of life, including in education, healthcare, genital integrity, criminal justice, domestic abuse, working hours, taxation, pensions, paternity, homelessness, suicide, sexual offences, and access to their own children after parental separation. The claim is justified in the book by empirical evidence, mostly but not exclusively from the UK, involving nearly 1,000 references, 179 Figures and 49 Tables. To most people, of both sexes, this will appear to be a perverse perspective as disadvantage has become the province of women, girls and minorities, not males. Yet the empirical case supporting the disadvantages suffered by men and boys is undeniable to the objective mind. But if this is so, why is the popular perception that males are privileged whereas disadvantage is the province of the opposite sex? Why do the male disadvantages go largely unremarked, by both sexes, if they are so pervasive?

Presenting the case for widespread and substantial male disadvantage is also a challenge to the usual hegemonic paradigm of feminist theory. These issues are addressed within The Empathy Gap by presenting an entirely different orientation on the social psychology of relations between the sexes. Out goes the idea of an oppressive patriarchy. Instead, a man’s participation in the human pair bond is seen to be altruistic, a phenomenon arising originally from evolution and enacted in the individual via the emotional psyche. This is the origin of an asymmetry in the perception of the sexes which normalises the preferencing of females and therefore inevitably disadvantages males as a corollary. The successful evolved strategy involves male utility and relative male disposability, the latter being facilitated by a muted empathy for males, by both sexes – the empathy gap.

Rather than working to overcome this male disposability, as a true egalitarian movement would have done, feminism has fed upon it and amplified it. The feminist project relies upon the true state of affairs remaining unacknowledged, and the empathy gap is instrumental in its own invisibility. In respect of this theory, the author makes no claim for originality. The ideas presented have been circulating within the sub-culture for decades. However, the focus of the book is to show how these ideas are manifest in practice.

Amazon recently reduced the price from £25.00 to £19.55, we believe in response to Waterstones, which has long been selling it for £19.95. You can order the book from Amazon here.

End of the tampon tax: Chancellor Rishi Sunak will axe the unpopular levy on sanitary products in his first Budget

Tomorrow is International Womxn’s Day, so yesterday there were numerous stupid statements by female MPs in the House of Commons. But this one, concerning a decision made by our male Chancellor, takes the biscuit. A piece in yesterday’s Daily Mail, making it crystal clear that calls for the abolition of the “tampon tax” was always driven by feminist charities seeking more money from taxpayers. Extracts:

The ‘tampon tax’ will be abolished in the Budget with VAT no longer charged on sanitary products from the start of next year…

The Treasury estimates the move will save the average woman nearly £40 over her lifetime, [J4MB emphasis: So, a tiny fraction of the money the average woman will spend on lipsticks over her lifetime.] with a cut of 7p on a pack of 20 tampons and 5p on 12 pads.

Critics have long criticised the tax for contributing to ‘period poverty’, where sanitary products are pushed out of reach because of their cost.

Campaigners last night welcomed the end of the tampon tax but raised concerns the Treasury is not planning to replace the tampon tax fund with other investment.

Vivienne Hayes, chief executive of the Women’s Resource Centre charity, said: ‘We are over the moon to learn of this news. Tampons and sanitary towels were never luxury items and should never have been subject to VAT.

‘Congratulations to all the women who campaigned so long for this ridiculous and unfair tax to be removed. We are concerned that the tampon tax fund will now be abandoned by the Government and we hope to see a replacement fund for women’s health and support charities announced in the near future.’

Campaigners also urged Boris Johnson to go further and spend the £700million they estimate has been raised during the tax’s lifetime on women’s charities.

Ava Brighton: How Amber Heard Johnny Depp

Excellent (video, 17:12). Near the end of the piece Ava reveals a little information on a two-hour-long documentary she’s planning to make. We’re confident it will be outstanding, and have at least as much impact as Cassie Jaye’s The Red Pill.

Ava’s 11 videos, published over the past five months, are here. The first was titled, Are almost all women MENTALLY INSANE?

She gave a well-received talk at the last Messages 4 Men conference, here (video, 17:30). We predict a very bright future for her.

Amber Rudd tells Oxford University students to ‘stop hiding’ after being no-platformed

Our thanks to Steve for this. The end of the piece:

On Wednesday, Oxford University’s independent Cherwell newspaper published an article on its website from a student angry at the decision to invite Ms Rudd to the event.

“In the context of the painful lack of diversity in Oxford, and the wider atmosphere of the continued hostile environment, the last thing we need is Amber Rudd being hailed as a feminist advocate in our institution,” they wrote.

“The socialist and inclusive roots of International Women’s Day deserve to be respected this week rather than arbitrarily tarnished.”
