GPs 'shun full-time work as pressures take toll'

Our thanks to Groan for this. He writes:

The elephant in the room. The area with the most female workforce, general practitioners, is that with most part-timers and “dissatisfaction”. Despite being independent contractors of the NHS rather than paid employees they seem to think they have an “hourly rate”. As often pointed out on J4MB an increasingly female medical profession simply does less work and certainly doesn’t do weekends or cover “out of hours”. One solution would be to make GPs salaried employees and then they’d have to do shifts like nurses.
