James Millar

Earlier this evening I posted a link to a video of my appearance on a Turkish TV channel, TRT World, along with James Millar, a feminist freelance journalist. We were discussing the recent deplorable Gillette ads, which of course he thought were wonderful.

My thanks to Danuta for spotting this, a sneering attack on his website of me and, by extension I think, MRAs generally. An extract should give you the flavour:

It’s almost as if they are just old-fashioned bullies and misogynists who don’t like having their out-of-date worldview challenged by anyone, even an advert.

I laugh every time I see a feminist write, “It’s almost as if…”. Almost, but not quite? So the assertion that follows is self-evidently false?

I’ve posted some comments, but they’re moderated on his website – as, to be fair, they are on mine – so in case he doesn’t publish them, they’re here.

I invite you to check out the article and give him your own thoughts. I look forward to reading them.

Mike Buchanan and James Millar (feminist journalist) discuss the Gillette ads on TRT World (Turkish TV station)

I’ve just published this (video, 12:29), a piece (my contribution, at least) recorded in the London studio of TRT World two days ago, for their “The Newsmakers” programme. TRT is a Turkish TV station which broadcasts internationally. I’ve previously been on the station twice, talking about the gender pay gap.

James Millar is the feminist freelance journalist who wrote a woeful piece about the Gillette ads in the New Statesman, here. On his Twitter feed @PoliticalYeti, he wrote about our discussion:

I started of (sic) ‘debating’ this Men’s Rights Activist but I ended up just laughing at him. The big silly.

Condescending twat. He laughed after I’d raised the issues of women who are violent towards their partners, paternity fraud, and abortion – clearly subjects of mirth in his world. He’s a co-author of the book Dads Don’t Babysit: Towards Equal Parenting. In a promotional tweet last September, now the ‘pinned’ tweet at the top of the page, he ended his short message with this:

We need to talk about #masculinity #fatherhood and how men are the final part of the feminist puzzle

Bettina Arndt: Crowd-funder for Sarah Jane Parkinson’s victims

Just received from Tina:

Hi Everyone,

I have been doing some fun radio interviews about #MenToo in recent weeks. As expected, I had real trouble getting any of the ABC announcers interested, apart from two interviews, one in Cairns and the other in Hobart. I thought you might enjoy the lively discussion with Adam Stephens in Cairns and some of the talk-back from the Hobart show.

I loved the feminist calling in to say she was glad she wasn’t drinking a hot cup of tea when listening to me because she would have splattered it everywhere!

Here’s the video. Please help me circulate it.

It would be great if you could contact your local radio stations and try to persuade them to do an interview. The main point of my book was to use it to promote public discussion of men’s issues. That’s starting to happen but it is an uphill battle getting the media to come on board.

GoFundMe under feminist influence?

I’ve been engaged in a frustrating battle this week with the crowd-funding organisation, GoFundMe. Following many requests from people who watched my last video about the false rape accuser, Sarah Jane Parkinson, I am now starting a crowd-funder to raise money for her victims, Dan and his family. Parkinson’s malicious campaign to destroy Dan and his family, with the help of crooked cops, led to Dan’s parents spending over $300,000 trying to protect their son.

We were just getting organised when GoFundMe suddenly stalled on launching the campaign, demanding details of my relationship with the recipients of the donations and ominously, ‘anything else you feel may help us better understand your campaign’s purpose’.

That was odd since I was not asked for such details in previous campaigns such as the one for Rob Tiller. I can only assume that a red flag went off over the idea of a false rape accuser but my subsequent hissy fit finally convinced them they might not enjoy the publicity if they persisted in obstructing the campaign.

So we’re finally up and running. The link to the crowd-funder, and I hope you will dig deep to help this shattered family, is here.

(Note we’ve made a short version of the interview with Dan, which might be easier for you to promote on social media.)

Write to ACT Attorney General seeking an ex gratia payment for Dan’s family
We also need you all to write to the ACT Attorney General seeking an ex gratia payment to Dan’s family to recover their legal expenses, given the fake charges and corrupt police involvement in the case. Here is the page on my website containing details you need to write to the AG.

Stop Violence Against Everyone petition
The numbers are growing on our petition urging the Federal Government to Stop Violence Against Everyone, rather than promoting feminist lies whitewashing women’s role in family violence. You may have heard that the proposed recipient of the petition, the Minister for Women Kelly O’Dwyer, has now resigned but she is still handling DV funding decisions prior to the next election and hence we are about to send through the petitions received so far. We’re sending them also to the Prime Minister and to the Shadow Minister for Women, Tanya Plibersek. (We’ll seek signatories’ approval for the latter.) Please encourage more people to sign up.

That’s it for now.

Cheers, Tina

Caring female firefighters to the rescue (so long as you don’t weigh more than 8st 8lb)

A piece by Gary Oliver published by TCW yesterday.

In 2013 a fireman wrote to us about how the fire service’s physical fitness tests had been compromised between when he first applied in 2000, and again in 2001, in order to facilitate driving up the proportion of female firefighters. His story about those tests, and more, is here.

Professor Eric Anderson: Debunking Toxic Femininity

An interesting interview (video, 1:00:48), although many if not most of this blog’s followers – like myself – will disagree with Eric’s analysis in some areas. He talks for a short time about the gendered nature of suicide, and gets that hopelessly wrong, I think. I’ve emailed him my thoughts on the matter.
