A woman wins the Man Booker prize. A foregone conclusion.

Val McDermid, novelist, one of the judges – from her website valmcdermid.com

The feminist battle to make women appear superior to men in competitions where judgment is subjective continues apace, leading to female “winners” who cannot be taken seriously by anyone other than feminists.

Anna Burns has won the 2018 Man Booker Prize for Fiction. The chances of a woman winning the prize – surely to be named the Woman Booker Prize for Fiction at some point, following a campaign by Caroline Criado Perez OBE – were always very high.

Four of the six books on the shortlist were written by women.

The chair of the judges, and the judges themselves, could hardly have been less representative of modern-day Britain. The chair is a man married to a man. Three of the four judges are women, including Val McDermid, a woman married to a woman. Jacqueline Rose is a feminist academic. The only male judge, Leo Robson, is the lead fiction reviewer for the left-wing New Statesman.

Hostility to men and elderly people could become hate crimes

I was called at around 08:00 today by a researcher working on Nick Ferrari’s breakfast show, asking if I’d contribute to the show 10 minutes later, in connection with this piece on the BBC website. I agreed, and I’m hoping to receive the audio file tomorrow from LBC, so I can post it on our YouTube channel. Among a number of points, I made the point that misandry is common, and misogyny very rare. Besides, it’s not misogyny if you hate Alison Saunders, Jess Phillips, Harriet Harman et al. It’s a civic duty.

I cannot, offhand, recall an instance of a parliamentarian uttering the word “misandry”, and perhaps surprisingly, the person in question was a woman – Baroness Williams of Trafford. Her comments leave little doubt as to her personal views about considering misandry as a hate crime. An extract from the article, emphases ours:

The Law Commission – an independent body that looks regularly at laws and whether they need to be updated – began its review of hate crime following a campaign by the Labour MP Stella Creasy.

She wanted misogyny to be recognised in the same way as racial or religious hatred because of the high levels of harassment that girls and women suffer.

As for why hostility against men is being included too, Home Office Minister Baroness Williams says the government always responds to what “the public and other organisations are telling us”. [J4MB: A barefaced lie.] And it appears at least some feel misandry is an issue.

She said the government wasn’t telling the Law Commission to recommend that misandry be included, but was simply asking for its view on the matter.

It may well be that particular strand is not necessary to take forward, but we are asking them to look at it,” she added.

Urgent call out for young men who have experienced misandry to talk to BBC Radio 1 today

I’ve just spoken to a researcher called Hannah Morrison. She wants to hear from young men who have experienced misandry in their daily lives and who could potentially share those experiences with BBC Radio 1. The discussion will be happening today so don’t delay in getting in contact if you would like to feature!

Her email address is: hannah.morrison@bbc.co.uk

Sacha Romanovitch, first female boss of a major City accountancy firm, Grant Thornton, fired for pursuing a “socialist agenda”

Our thanks to James and Ray for this. Extracts:

Sacha Romanovitch, the first UK female chief executive of a major City accountancy firm, will step down from Grant Thornton by the end of this year…

Romanovitch said: “As we enter the next phase of our plans, following discussions with Grant Thornton’s board, we have agreed that the time is right for a new chief executive to take the firm forward. I will be working to support a smooth transition to our next chief executive, focusing on continuing to deliver sustainable value for our clients through our diverse [J4MB emphasis] and talented team.”…

Last month, an unnamed Grant Thornton insider claiming to speak for 15 partners or directors [£] [J4MB: Another odd Grauniad typo] leaked to several news organisations the contents of Romanovitch’s annual performance review and an unsigned complaint saying she had “misdirected” the firm.

The anonymous writer accused Romanovitch of pursuing a “socialist agenda” [J4MB: More accurately, a feminist agenda, presumably, of advancing women over men, regardless of their relative merit] and that the firm had no focus on profitability under her leadership and was “out of control”….

The firm’s web page on Romanovitch is here. An extract:

My real passion is enabling others to meet their potential, which has led me to become a qualified coach; to champion our firm’s ground-breaking apprentice programme; and to challenge the norm on views regarding diversity [J4MB emphasis] – a role I am so passionate about I am the chair of the Patron Group for Access Accountancy.

Petition: Margaret Thatcher for the face of the new £50 note

We can, I’m sure, all agree that Margaret Thatcher was the finest peacetime PM of the past century. Possibly the finest peacetime PM in British history. So I invite you to join me in signing this petition. It goes without saying, of course, that Mrs T deserves to be immortalised by a statue in Parliament Square. But we’ll never see that, given the number of Commies in parliament.

Ewan Jones: J4MB protest against MGM at the latest Conservative Party Conference

Our thanks to Ewan Jones for filming and editing this (video, 9:12). Ewan has supported us year after year, when he’s available, and he’s made videos of our protests at the past three Tory party conferences. In the weeks before the 2015 general election, he motorcycled from his home in the West Country to Nottingham, on a daily basis, to help us distribute leaflets door-to-door, come rain or shine. Please help support his important work, here.

Sophie Skinner, 25, mother of three, jailed for 18 months for false rape claim. She’ll be out in 9 months.

Our thanks to Bryn for this. I was struck by this sentence:

She was sentenced to 18 months in prison by Judge Daniel Williams after he said she had shown “no remorse at all”.

Can we doubt that if Skinner had done what most women in this situation do, pretended to be remorseful – as her solicitor would surely have suggested – and “sobbed” in court, for good measure, she wouldn’t be serving a custodial sentence today? Surely not.

The final sentence in the piece:

She was sentenced to 18 months, of which she was told she would serve half before being released on licence.

Nine months for seeking to destroy a man’s life. Derisory, yet more punishment than most women in such situations receive.
