Chris McGovern: They can’t even bribe people to be teachers

An excellent piece published today on TCW. His profile on the website:

Chris McGovern is the Chairman of the Campaign for Real Education. A retired head teacher with 35 years’ teaching experience, Chris is a former advisor to the Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street under two Prime Ministers.

One of a number of contributions to the comments stream, from “derekandclive”:

You just can’t see the reality can you? The teaching profession in Britain is a beacon of feminist Marxist perfection – it is the most productive, highly skilled, efficient and talented sector now operating in the U.K. – just ask the NUT or the BBC, they will give you the honest objective facts about how wonderful it is – finally we have an area of public service free to show how much better women are at running things and how left wing ideology is so superior to everything else. Judging this towering example of superlative delivery on its actual results is simply nasty right wing nitpicking that tries to cloud and undermine idealism with the wickedness of reality.

Tomorrow’s protest against Alison Saunders and the CPS

Frustratingly, I’ve been struck down by a nasty bug today – a virus from an Apple MacBook, crossing the machine / human divide, I believe – so I shall not be attending tomorrow’s protest against Alison Saunders and the CPS.

Hopefully some good video footage and photographs will be published online after the protest. I thought I’d post video footage (13:58) from a protest we held outside the previous CPS HQ, on Southwark Bridge, in June 2016 – here.

The intrepid stalwart MRA and videomaker Ewan Jones recorded and edited the footage, and made his own impactful “in front of camera” contribution (7:39 – 10:25). A little footage at the end (from 12:00) from the subsequent protest in Parliament Square (Ewan again on fine form, along with others including Mike P and a man from Oxford).

I was planning to take a number of placards from those protests to tomorrow’s protest. No matter. I hope tomorrow’s protest goes well, and gets some deserved media attention.

The decline of female hypergamy and rise hypogamy

A highly interesting study looking at the impact, of the reversal of the educational gender gap in favour of women (plus rising male unemployment), on relationships.

The prevalence of hypergamy (women “marrying up”) is in decline and hypogamy (women “marrying down”) is rising. While most studies on hypergamy/homogamy/hypogamy only take educational attainment into account, this study also looks at earnings and finds that 10% of relationships between couples aged 25-45 are hypogamous which apparently makes it more common than hypergamy…

British woman charged with murdering her husband in Malaysia

Samantha Jones has admitted to stabbing her husband on the island of Langkawi. The charge currently carries a mandatory death sentence in Malaysia.

Her lawyer reports that she is “very, very overwhelmed. It is her husband at the end of the day.

“She is also grieving for him despite the circumstances of the case, but she is holding up.”

Tomorrow’s protest against Alison Saunders – different venue to meet at 2pm, some well-known expected attendees

We’ve just been informed by David Pattinson of a change of venue to meet tomorrow at 14:00, in order to accommodate larger numbers. It will now be The Feathers, 18-20 Broadway, London SW1H 0BH. David’s website on the protest is here. The theme of the protest is that Alison Saunders should be:

…prosecuted by the British people led by a dream team of the falsely accused including:

Jeffrey Ketland (billed to attend, but he won’t be)
Jonathan King
Patrick Graham
Mike Buchanan (falsely accused of misogyny, sexism…)
