Tesco trolleys branded ‘sexist’ for safety instructions which show a woman in a dress with children

Tesco has been branded 'sexist' for its imagery on its trolleys

Our thanks to James and others for this. An extract:

Samantha Rennie, executive director at equality group Witless Women Will Never Stop Whining, said last night: “The idea that shopping trolleys should be gendered in any way seems ridiculous.

“It’s a seemingly small factor that plays a role in reinforcing stereotypical ideas of the woman being responsible for the weekly food shop.’

Ewan Jones – new YouTube channel

Ewan Jones is one of the hardest-working anti-feminists I know, and in recent times has been filming and publishing interviews of MRAs. His interview of the novelist James Tate, published yesterday, is here (video, 1:17:23). I look forward to being interviewed by him in a few weeks’ time. He was one of a small band of stalwarts who joined me in street campaigning and door-to-door leafleting before the 2015 general election, in all weathers. He’s also put a lot of time and effort into speaking at Speakers’ Corner in recent years – he’ll be there again, next Sunday afternoon, along with myself and others – and he’s just launched a new YouTube channel – here. We wish him well with the venture.

Next Sunday, 18 February: Please help us promote ICMI18 in front of a TV documentary crew, then join us for the afternoon at Speakers’ Corner.

Late next Sunday morning, 18 February, I (and possibly some party supporters) will be filmed by a TV crew in London, in connection with an interview I’ll be having next week on a gender-related issue with a high-profile media personality, for later showing on TV. With a number of supporters I’ll be promoting the July conference. We’ve had new placards and leaflets printed. You’d be very welcome to join us, please email us (info@j4mb.org.uk) if you can, and we’ll let you know the venue shortly before the event.

In the afternoon we’ll be at Speakers’ Corner again, with our boycams, as usual. The London Group will have a number of speakers as usual, while I’ll be concentrating on MGM with some supporters.

Five weeks ago we captured this (video, 13:43) on my own bodycam. Last Sunday, just as we were about to leave, a young Muslim man feigned anger at our use of an image of a baby boy about to be circumcised, on this placard and on our leaflets. The URL of a website outlining the Muslim case against MGM is printed on the placard.

On the other side of the placard is the same image, with the URL of the Jewish case against circumcision, a two-sided leaflet produced by Jews Against Circumcision. The placard side is here.

Rod Liddle: Sometimes men deserve to be paid more

An excellent piece in the current edition of The Spectator. An extract:

The BBC has been in one of its fairly frequent states of oestrus over the event [J4MB: Centenary of women getting the vote, and working class men too, for the first time)… I took part in a debate on the World at One about the #MeToo business, but I was up against four women, so was restricted in attempting to promulgate my considered thesis that #MeToo is basically affluent, entitled women whining about next to nothing.

The next day the Today programme was an exclusive women-only zone — presented and produced by women and with only female guests, an interesting idea presumably taken from the BBC’s Brexit coverage where only Remainers are allowed to ask questions or answer them. I wondered if this innovation might be developed and extended so that we might have a BBC programme entirely produced by, presented by and the interviews consisting solely of cretins. But then I remembered — hey, there’s PM!

The Today show included a rather fractious interview with a female comedian in which the question was posed: can women really be funny? I thought this might prove time for some laughs. Hell, of course they can be funny — they’re frequently hilarious. Just give them a map, or watch them parking. But the comedian, the least humorous person on Planet Earth including Philip Hammond, just screeched back: ‘That’s not funny! You shouldn’t even ask the question!’ Perhaps the woman comedian was approaching her menses and thus possessed of an irrational fury. If so, I think the presenter, the excellent Sarah Montague, should have let us all know. ‘And joining us on the line from Hades is Roz Harridan, who is about to come on.’

Peter Hitchens: “Jordan Peterson doesn’t go nearly far enough. The Canadian psychologist may speak to millions – but not to me.”

A thought-provoking piece in the current edition of The Spectator. Extracts:

Let me say first of all that Dr Peterson’s recent stand against the Thought Police of his native Canada was noble and brave. He refused to be bullied into using gender-neutral pronouns. And by resolutely resisting this pressure, he overcame it — at least for now.

But as a prophet of doom I need to add that I am not sure he has won any really significant victory in the long war against radical speech codes and sexual revolution. I am ceaselessly amazed, as I look at our media, political parties, schools and universities, how formerly conservative people and institutions have adapted themselves to ideas, expressions and formulations which they once rejected and confidently mocked. Almost everything that was once derided as the work of the ‘loony left’ or ‘political correctness gone mad’ is observed daily in grand, expensive private schools and is the official policy of the Conservative and Unionist party, or soon will be.

There is also some good advice for troubled, lost people, given by a man who has had quite severe troubles of his own, and whose face, in some lights and attitudes, looks a little like that of a sorrowing saint on an Orthodox icon. Yet I am perplexed by the fact that Dr Peterson has in the past taken ‘antidepressant’ pills. Is he aware of the scientific and medical controversy surrounding the claims made for them, and the possible disadvantages of taking them? They seem to me (even if they work as claimed) to be a version of Aldous Huxley’s soma, the drug that reconciled the inhabitants of Brave New World to their servitude and ignorance.

Perhaps this is why I am so glad that the whole nature of Dr Peterson’s work is alien to me. I am too keenly aware of the good things which have been utterly lost in recent years to be comforted by what looks like an attempt to reconcile us with the revolutionary order. I find it hard to applaud efforts to help me adapt to a world which I think has gone utterly wrong. His message is aimed at people who have grown up in the post-Christian West. I think it appeals especially to young men. And I think this is mainly because those young men cannot work out how to behave correctly towards modern young women. These young women’s minds have been trained to mistrust masculinity. But in their hearts they still despise feeble, feminised men. The outcome is that men are trapped in a minefield, in the midst of a quicksand. Whether you stand still or move, it will still destroy you. I do not know how anyone copes with it, or ever could.

Donald Trump denounced for pointing out that lives are shattered by allegations, some true, some false

Our thanks to James for this. Extracts, emphases ours:

President Donald Trump says lives are being “destroyed by mere allegation” after two White House aides quit amid accusations of domestic abuse.

“There is no recovery for someone falsely accused,” Mr Trump tweeted.

This week saw the departure of White House speechwriter David Sorensen and staff secretary Rob Porter…

Trump tweeted:

“Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation. Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone. Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”

Among those to react with anger was Democratic Senator Patty Murray, who responded by saying that women’s lives were affected every day by sexual violence and harassment.

“I’m going to keep standing with them, and trusting them, even if the president won’t,” she said.

So Trump is saying some allegations are true, some false, while a female Democratic Senator is saying ALL allegations (of men abusing women) should be assumed to be true, and all the men in question assumed guilty. Trump’s point about due process is perfectly reasonable.

“It’s historical sexism” – the fight to end stuntmen doubling for women

Our thanks to Martin for this piece in The Guardian. The start of the piece:

The practice is called wigging: stuntmen don wigs and women’s clothing to resemble female actors while filming risky action scenes.

Camera angles, special effects and editing preserve the illusion that it is a pulchritudinous star leaping off a building or driving through a window rather than a man in drag.

“Curb the Chat Mags” campaign

I’ve just received an email from Peter, with some background to his interesting campaign. I suspect the magazines contribute more to women’s misandry than I’d formerly considered, and I wish him success with the campaign. His email:

Hi Mike,

I’m very impressed with the quality of your blog and the articles.  Many thanks for all the work you must be putting into it.

I thought you might be interested in my own little campaign, called “Curb The Chat Mags”. It concerns the women’s “chat magazines” for sale here in the UK, whose headline and articles encourage suspicion and hatred towards men, week after week.

There are several different weekly women’s chat mags available in the UK, including “Chat”, “Take a Break”, “Pick Me Up”, “That’s Life” and “Love It”.   These magazines show headlines on their front pages of sexually violent stories of rape, torture and child abuse, all perpetrated by men. They select only stories that portray all women and children as victims and portray men as the monsters.

They teach children to fear and distrust their fathers and brothers.   They are displayed on lower shelves of newsagents often right next to the children’s comics.  Their graphic front pages headlines treat subjects like child molesters, murder, incest, cannibalism and pedophiles as topics of light entertainment and a means to make money.

They’re heavily promoted as a casual read for women and they’re the most popular weekly women’s magazines sold in the UK.

Anyone can see the website I have built to support and promote the campaign.  Please take a look and if there’s anything you can usefully use on your own blog, you have my full permission to do so.

And the associated Facebook page is https://m.facebook.com/CurbTheChatMags for those who want to promote it through social media.

I would be grateful if you could point out any ways in which you think my site might be improved.

Best wishes,

Peter
