The 6% concur with the results of research on a wider range of topics (and across countries) a couple of years ago. I think one can say the evidence is for a systematic bias in favour of Girls (inflating of their marks) across most education in the UK. From the research I’ve read it in fact is “benign sexism” in the feminists jargon because it appears that boys are the “measure” in that their performance is actually closer to the standard “correct” or “model” answers and it is Girls who receive an undeserved premium. One could speculate of where this is benign sexism , gynocentric generosity, or reward for being “nice”.
But the bottom line is that the teaching profession is routinely sexist and needs to address its professional practice.
