Couple who made fake Thomas Cook holiday sickness claims jailed in landmark case. Paul Roberts (43) admitted same offences as Deborah Briton (53). He was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment, she to 9 months.

Unfortunately, our society ,our culture somehow believes that women are less guilty than men by default, even when they commit identical crimes.. I can’t think of any single logical reason why this should be so…The only culprit I can possibly think of is the gentleman culture. And obviously, it must go. Unless men want to continue to be discriminated against, that is.
This just shows how far feminism has to go before achieving true feminist-equality (when the sentencing would be fifteen months gaol for him; £25 from public funds, an apology for all of the fuss and a taxi home for her).
Glancing down the comments on the site it is worrying that no one apart from me has commented on the discrepancy between the two sentences. For many people it does not seem to be an issue.
jb,
my comment is entirely about the sentencing double standard, in case you did not notice. But I also tried to analyze as to why it is like that, so that it can be corrected.
