I think most reasonable people support that. Where I disagree with Mr Jones is in how that is achieved. I’d like to see people who do work able to live reasonably on what they can earn sustainably by paying far less in tax for the comfort of those who won’t work. My wife and I have only just been able to afford a car, after seven years without one, only because my father died and included me in his will. My wife works long and hard to pay tax for people like the non-working woman I worked as a volunteer with, who told me, with an absolutely straight face, that she had to have a people carrier for the mobility component of her disability living allowance because she had to walk her greyhounds – I kid you not. My wife is not badly paid for her sex but we have had to live very frugally for some years to make ends meet, at one point having just £10.00 per week to spend on food for both of us. It has taken the death of my father to give us even the prospect of a leg up to prosperous self-sufficiency again, not Owen Bloody Jones’ precious Welfare State.

Jones isn’t ‘asking the rich’; he’s deceiving the ‘poor’, again. That aside, who are ‘the rich’ and what is their ‘fair share’? Even with a single rate of income tax, at whatever rate, ‘the rich’ would pay more than ‘the poor’. Can I write ‘fuckwit’ on your blog Mike?
