Its called a “rant” but actually its a good speedy resume of current sociological and psychological truths. In some senses right from the time of Warren Farrell’s Myth of Male Power there hasn’t been much dispute on the facts of difference. The key has been whether it is a result of some evil patriarchy fairy/s or the interaction of our natures and the world as we find it.
What does fascinate me is the research into the women entrepreneurs rom the developing world. There is little of the idea of adopting “female” forms of management etc. To them “business is business” . In effect unknowingly acting on Farrell’s advice to “adopt the behaviours of success”.
Even some feminists have baulked at the western feminist position, that without additional help and privileges women simply can’t succeed on their own. In effect they argue women have a disability that has to be compensated for!

Quite apart from the fact far fewer – 1/7 – women actually prioritise work and therefore can be presumed to want it, the question then follows, how many are capable of it?
And with the insight/self-knowledge/honesty to say, if offered a leg up via positive discrimination, “Sorry, but I know I will struggle with X so it wouldn’t be appropriate”.
Personally, I’ve accepted the sideways shunt into technical specialist, not because of typical female lifestyle choices but because I know I would be too reliant on other specialists in probably the crucial area, namely finance.
And I would always choose to work with men.
