Pope Francis angered by America’s ‘mother of all bombs’ name

Our thanks to Jeff for this. The start of the short piece:

Pope Francis has criticised the naming of the US military’s largest non-nuclear explosive ever used in combat as “the mother of all bombs”.

“I was ashamed when I heard the name,” the pontiff told an audience of students at the Vatican.

“A mother gives life and this one gives death, and we call this device a mother. What is going on?” he asked.

It would have been more appropriate for Pope Francis to refer to the women who’ve been instrumental in the killing of over 9 million unborn children in the UK since the Abortion Act 1967, around the time that almost infallible contraception was made available to women – the contraceptive pill.

Where are the Roman Catholic church’s calls for mass demonstrations against abortion, on the 50th anniversary of that barbaric piece of legislation? Our position on abortion is in our 2015 general election manifesto – here.

If everyone who read this gave us just £1 – or even better, £1 monthly – we could change the world. Click here to make a difference. Thanks.

  1. One dead kid on a Turkish beach is enough to throw our civilisation away for. 9 million dead foetuses is enough for a celebration at Guardian and BBC HQ.
