[Note added 10.3.17: I’ve emailed Stephen Pollard, the Editor of The Jewish Chronicle – editorial@thejc.com – to express my utter disgust at his paper’s publication of this story. You can email letters to letters@thejc.com.]
A scandalous piece in The Jewish Chronicle. Virtually the entire article consists of Serlin writing about herself, and she displays not an ounce of humanity towards her unfortunate son, who in later years is likely to be a non-religious Jew, like herself.
How her husband could permit the mutilation of his baby son’s genitals, in the name of a religion which neither he nor his wife practise, is beyond me. It often takes religion for good people to commit evil. The end of the piece:
And although I’m not a religious Jew I certainly find my cultural background playing out in my work, in my love of language, of psychology, and a bit of an entrepreneurial streak, too.
At my son’s circumcision ceremony back in December, I was able to celebrate my own Jewishness with a new appreciation. [It’s all about me, me, ME!!!]
With my Jewish family on one side, and his father’s Italian family on the other, uniting over this rite of passage, we had a very special and beautiful event for our son.

Poor little lad

Women have become toxic for men and boys. Self absorbed, dissociated, narcissistic and with the empathy button disconnected – this act of barbarism is disgusting – in my opinion. She would have been, rightly, incarcerated for doing this to girl.

I’ve never been a big fan of religion which I regard, rightly or wrongly, as an hierarchical power and control structure designed to wield authority and influence and, not least, to make money.
However, unlike religion itself I am not insisting anyone agree with me.
It does not speak well of it though that it enables things like cutting off parts of one’s person at an age when they cannot understand, resist or consent.
Especially since there are no practical benefits at all given the universal availabilty of soap and water twice a day.
It might best be described as a primitive, long outdated and pernicious practice that should have gone the way of slavery and juju magic long ago, and I hereby rattle a bag of bones at it.

Perhaps if Emma Serlin would really love to participate in her Jewishness she could also get herself genitally mutilated ??
I have never felt the need to celebrate my Jewish ancestry with MGM and family would never agree to it either.
nor would I have permitted any child of mine( boy or girl) to have FGM/MGM under islam either( something that was done to my ex wife as a child)
F/M-GM .. its mad, bad and stupid. if you feel such a need for it then prove it by doing it to yourself as adult without anesthetic and then tell us how butchering a minor( ANOTHER persons body) without their consent is all about celebrating YOUR Jewishness
