Philip Davies is shaping up nicely as that that rare thing, a parliamentary hero.
Condemning many of his colleagues for keeping quiet when they ought to be speaking out because they want promotion and all the things that go with it – principally money, power and status.
This is a grievous corruption of the parliamentary system in which MPs ought to “work for us” and represent the voice of the people as a protection against the otherwise un-checked power of the state.
Instead, they end up working for the whips and the party machine which is why I use the word ‘corruption’, – a
pernicious alteration of purpose.
Unfortuately, power appeals to those who want and seek it and thus ought not to have it.
I should be glad to hear of a workable system whereby it is only given to those who do NOT want it!
