Guardian piece on Philip Davies’s speech today

An interesting piece in the Guardian, which I’m posting to share a short extract (1:58) from Philip Davies’s 70+ minute speech. The piece includes five paragraphs of his comments, more than you’d expect from the paper.

If everyone who read this gave us just £1 – or even better, £1 monthly – we could change the world. Click here to make a difference. Thanks.

  1. Jess Phillips quote;

    For some people, they wake up on Christmas Day and they will try not to say anything wrong. They will try not to put a foot wrong. They will make sure everything is perfect. They will have risk-assessed every single step that they take throughout the day because just this one day their children deserve not to have the monster that lives in their home erupt in their faces.
    Just this one day, their children deserve to have the peaceful day that all of our children have taken for granted…”

    I agree.

    One has to feel very sorry for the husband in this situation who must fear his ‘monster’ wife on his children’s behalf.

    However, I cannot agree with next part about children deserving a “peaceful” day.

    That’s the parents surely…..children want to run about, make noise and have FUN yes?

    This alone shews the attempted devious manipulation of the malodorous pile of ordure that somehow ended up as the MP for Birmingham Yardley.

  2. I believe Philip Davies’ concern that the Convention excludes men and boys was dismissed with a contemptuous, “We can’t solve all the world’s problems in one go” response. And the “1 in 3” figure was brought out yet again and claimed to be “a conservative estimate”. As for Jess Phillips sob story . . . words fail me. What a shameful level of ‘debate’ for the highest chamber in our democracy.
