Not long ago we published a link to a blog piece by William Collins on MGM, which included observations on the ongoing WHO/UNAIDS programme to mutilate the genitals of 20 million Sub-Saharan men and boys (as young as 10). A link to the piece is here, the content in PDF format here.

So with no sex for most of the trial – reducing the chance of infection, and use of free condoms when they did have sex, you can conclude the negligible reduction in infection was not down to the circumcision but down to a reduction in risky sexually activity. Therefore promoting this as good science and a reason to mutilate men is totally unethical.
