  1. I think it important that J4MB makes it clear that men can use the Equalities legislation. It often seems that men are unaware of their rights simply because the publicity etc. rarely makes this point. There are a lot of assumptions that positive discrimination is legal. It is not. I hope the case mentioned does go ahead as it may make clear that men can and should use the remedies available to them. Dominic Lawson shows some typical chivalry in assuming if he’d taken a case it would have been for “male pride”. No it would have shown that other men in less privileged positions than him can obtain the protection of the law.

    • Men should absolutely use the law for their protection, just like women do. Nothing shameful about that. The problem, once again, is chivalry.. Unfortunately, given the society we live in now, chivalry has become the biggest obstacle to men’s equality and justice. The hardest part will be for men to realize that they are NOT less valuable than women, they DO deserve a right to a family and children, they DO deserve equal treatment by justice system, and that ‘ladies first’ policies and attitudes belongs to the 19th century.
Chivalry is the bread and butter of feminism.
