Glen Poole debates with a Women’s Aid spokeswoman

This online debate, hosted by Emma Barnett of the Telegraph, isn’t short – 30:35 – but it’s well worth catching. Look for the file dated 28 May 2014 in our fast-growing Youtube library. Glen did very well in the face of a torrent of nonsensical assertions by the Women’s Aid spokeswoman, Franki Hatchett, and supreme indifference towards male victims of domestic violence from a spokesman for The White Ribbon Campaign. We’ll be posting a detailed critique of Ms Hatchett’s assertions in the next day or two.

Minister attacks myth of girls’ jobs and boys’ jobs

The government’s attempts to push water uphill with a stick continue after decades of failure, as we see in this piece from the BBC. Girls’ choices are forever being spun into a problem to be solved, as a reflection of ‘gender bias’. Fields being dominated by women is NEVER a problem to be solved, although 60% of university students are women, four out of seven unemployed people are men,  unemployment is known to be a high risk factor for suicide in men (but not women) and suicide is the #1 cause of death of young men. The state is killing men, although 72% of the taxes which finance the state are paid by men.

The reluctance of young women to enter certain fields e.g. engineering is so strong that the taxpayer has to bribe women to study them. In the latest edition of New Scientist, Brunel University has an advert offering 40 engineering scholarships for women from the UK and EU, which will cover both tuition fees and a £15,000 p.a. ‘living allowance’.

David Moseley has posted what may be THE most stupid comment a man has ever posted on the internet

Five minutes ago, I was happily reflecting that it’s been a golden week or two for the men’s human rights movement. The Mankind Initiative video has been watched by over 6.5 million viewers. AVfM’s campaign to raise $25,000 to fund additional security at the Detroit conference – in response to death threats against speakers, delegates, other hotel guests, and hotel staff – reached its target in under 22 hours. And today Ally Fogg posted an outstanding blog piece on domestic violence, portraying Mark Brooks and Mankind Initiative in a justifiably positive light, Polly Neate and Women’s Aid in an equally justifiable negative light.

And at exactly that moment of happy contemplation, David Moseley – hitherto unknown to us – decided to rain on my parade. He posted the following comments in response to one of our YouTube videos about the world’s most prominent whine merchant, Laura Bates:

Lack of female CEOs is related to sexual violence insofar as it represents the wider social perception that women are inferior and are therefore not suitable for business, in the case of big companies, and are objects for the gratification of men, in the case of sexual assault. I reject your claim of her as an “emotionally-driven hand-waving loudmouth” and other comments (not necessarily yours) about her voice as ad hominim (sic) and not about her argument or stance at all. “emotionally-driven” is also a rather loaded sexist term and unless you would consider yourself sexist, it would be advised (advisable?) to avoid it as it belongs to that field. Women are often diregarded (sic) as being ‘over-emotional’. As per, you have conflated “women’s rights” and “men’s rights” and “sexism” with “feminism”. Feminism seeks to promote gender equality, this is not about making men “less” or making women “more”, it’s about awareness and creating an environment where men don’t have to fulfill (sic) typical stereotypes (as opposed to ‘untypical’ stereotypes, presumably?) of masculinity, and women do not have to be objectified by the media,, corporations and ultimately individuals. Men’s rights, as far as I can tell, are not under attack, (oh, you so can’t tell) and certainly not from the feminist camp (oh, OK!). If you doubt this, I would invite you to read feminist literature, bell hooks “Feminism is for Everyone”, most notably. (Yes, David, that certainly wouldn’t be an ideologically-driven book on the subject.)

When men can be so brainwashed, what hope is there? There’s only one thing for it, to raise the spirits for the long battle ahead. A large measure of Hennessy cognac, and a packet of Mild Bombay Mix. That generally does the trick, I find.

AVfM met its $25,000 fundraising target for security in Detroit – within 22 hours

Great news. According to a comment left by Dean Esmay on the fundraising site, AVfM met its $25,000 target within just 22 hours, and donations now stand at $26,659. An outstanding achievement. Contributions are still invited, in case even more security is required in Detroit. Any surplus will be put towards next year’s event. We hope for a blog piece from Paul Elam or Dean Esmay later today.

Mark Brooks (Mankind Initiative) debates with Polly Neate (Women’s Aid) on ‘Woman’s Hour’

Mark Brooks, chairman of Mankind Initiative was his usual impressive and convincing self in an interview broadcast this morning, prompted by the MI video set in a London park, which has to date attracted well over 6.5 million viewers. The interview has just been downloaded to our YouTube channel.

The narrative of the Woman’s Hour presenter, Jane Garvey, was predictably more sympathetic towards Polly Neate, the head of Women’s Aid. I’m sure if Mark had been given even a little more time he’d have made some very strong points in response to Polly Neates’s claim that 89% of victims of ‘repeated abuse / coercive control’ are women. It’s a claim Women’s Aid spokeswomen keep trotting out without being challenged, so we’re going to publicly challenge Polly Neate on the claim (along with other claims WA spokeswomen make) later this week.
