I’m really pleased you posted this as the story is on fact a parallel one to that recounted by Erin Pizzey. The Doctor was a pioneer in refuges in Germany , following Erin’s lead in Chiswick. He recounts that the refuges in Germany have moved from pioneer to atavistic centres of ideology. Ignoring all the research, including his own, on addressing domestic violence in relationships they continue, as WomensAid do here, to work to an outdated simplistic ideology without therapeutic or family/child centred content in their work.
