I had the pleasure of spending time with Rob Tierney, a courageous Australian MRA, during my time at the 2017 conference in Gold Coast. An Air Traffic Controller in his younger days, Rob (now 59) was a whistleblower, and has suffered gravely as a result. As well as having some major physical health problems, he still suffers from some mental health problems, including depression and PTSD. My thanks to him for publishing a video (21:57) he presented a few months after ICMI17 to the 2017 Whistleblowers Australia Conference.
Rob knows of an Australian Policeman and a US Air Force mechanic who became whistleblowers, and later committed suicide.
During the time I was in Australia, Rob undertook a skydive to raise money for organizations working for men, in an initiative he called “Jumping for Men & Boys”. His video concerning that event, and what it meant to him, is here (6:41). The man who filmed and later edited the talks at the last three ICMIs, Anthony J Corniche III (“Tom”) took some video footage of the skydive. Tom and I are looking forward to having dinner with Rob in London soon.
